- Mount Everest
“I’ve never experienced cold or exhaustion like that before in my life and reckon it’ll take me forever to defrost!” Dawn said on completing her Everest challenge. “I’m not exaggerating when I say it was the toughest thing I’ve ever done & it is by far the one I’m most proud of!”
The trek to the Everest Base Camp covers over 100 miles in freezing conditions. All at altitudes of over 5000m above sea level, meaning the air is thin and breathing is hard. But Dawn is not one to be beaten.
In 2008 Dawn was diagnosed with melanoma, a very serious form of skin cancer. The diagnosis turned her life upside down. Her treatment was tough but it worked and she has now been cancer free for eight years. She was lucky because she caught her cancer early.
