Melanoma Focus will share information amongst medical professionals and offer the general public accessible and reliable guidance about melanoma prevention, treatment and clinical trials. Through its website the charity aims to bring together the various sources of online information available in the UK and internationally.
Actively raising funds from public and private sources to achieve these objectives is a critical part of the charity’s activities. Another principal function is running an annual meeting designed to have a broad appeal amongst specialists and non-specialists working with melanoma patients.
An example of our initiatives in the fight against melanoma is our plan is to set up and manage a UK-wide clinical database for use in research. Initial funding for this has already been obtained (see Melanoma Database Project). A further example is the Patient Impact Programme, which is supported and fully funded by Melanoma Focus.
